Two words: Venom Hydra. Azmodan is big and very slow, he doesn't teleport like Kulle or charge like the Siegebreaker: he'll just slowly wade through the pools of acid while the damage stacks again and again and again.

I just killed Azmo in less than two minutes solo with Venom Hydra doing 90% of the work as I focused on running around and avoiding his attacks, and he never even hit me. This probably works in Nightmare and Inferno too. Note: I do 9k DPS, level 60.
